Sledge Hammer (Martillo Hammer)

A brief appreciation of the cult classic and greatest cop show ever, Sledge Hammer!, one TV series (now on DVD) that continues to bring Team Matheny together in familial concord.

Connection: Acquaintance Gary Walkow - who's written/directed such diverse movies such as Beat, The Trouble with Dick (a favorite at Sundance), Notes from Underground (with intense performances by Henry Czerny and Sheryl Lee) and his latest, Crashing (sort of a sequel to Dick) which features a short appearance by my beloved; and who directed four episodes of of the second season of SH, one entitled "Wild About Hammer" about a love-crazed Hammer groupie (the second season, you recall, attempted to bring more romantic interest into the life of this gun-totin' maniac) - is also the author of a number of touching poems collected in his chapbook Bad Sex, three of which can now be found in Cantaraville Two.
